THE SOLUTION

Due to the slope of the lot, accessing the main floor by the bridge enabled the house to be built further down the hill. This allowed for more overall square footage. Almost immediately the pool was added. Due to some privacy issues the low wall was built around the pool. The pool features a built-in hot tub, shallow sun deck, two waterfalls and two gas fire strips. The result is stunning at night.

A large fountain was built in an awkward space under the entry bridge. It cycles with the pool so there are no maintenance issues. It is also lighted for a nice evening effect.

Both the interior and outside fireplaces were reinforced to be wood burning fireplaces. They both have gas log starters which makes starting a fire easy and instant. This option is the best of both worlds. It can  have gas

Our Client's Experience

THE BRIEF

This property was purchased to build a spec house. The lot was considered a difficult build until a talented young architect met with the owner (builder) and came up with this remarkable house. Mason Interior Design was brought on board at foundation to take this spec house to the next level as far as the interior build-out was concerned.

The contemporary wine wall was added to the end of the dining room where there was going to be a built in cabinet. This wine cellar is the real deal. It is hermetically sealed and temperature controlled. It is unique in the frame less door design and the way the wine bottles are racked.

While the entry level floor is Brazilian cherry and considered the more formal part of the house, the lower level is stained concrete. Concrete is a great option for use when there is a pool nearby as it is so easy to maintain and almost bullet proof. The lower level family/game room, galley style kitchen and bar makes entertaining easy.
Mason Interior Design was able to take a great house and make it even better. Through the efforts of all the trades we came up with the best possible house. With the extra experience of a design firm this house truly became all it could be.

logs or burn wood. The outside grill was added to the open space by the fireplace. This replaced what would have been railing.

The staircase was changed to have just the center support and the railing was changed to cable. Through careful engineering, a support beam was removed to enable the stairway to appear to “float”.
The interior/exterior stone that runs throughout the house gives the illusion that you could be inside or outside. The large sliding glass doors add to this feeling.

The lighting plan was changed to include 4 inch recessed cans instead of 6 inch. This is a lighting trend that is catching on in higher end homes. The decorative fixtures were upgraded too.

The tile plan was extensive and includes custom glass tile and stone. All the appliances and fixtures were upgraded; making the kitchen and 5 bathrooms truly extraordinary.
